Of Franco-Swiss nationality, Dr Jean-Daniel PORTIGHEIS has benefited from a successful international career. He graduated as a dentist with honours from Université Libre de Bruxelles in 1995.
After working as a dental surgeon officer at the St. Wendel military base in Germany, he was accepted as a post-graduate student in the prosthetics and periodontology department at Erasmus Hospital in Brussels. Then he worked in London for two years, before being selected for the periodontology and implantology specialist programme at the dental schools of Nijmegen and Amsterdam. This three-year, full-time post-doctoral training course is accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP). After passing the theoretical and clinical examinations and publishing a research thesis on implantology, he obtained the title of 'Master of Science' in 2002.
Alongside this, Dr. Portigheis has also been officially recognised as a specialist by the UK's prestigious General Dental Council (GDC).
In 2003, he was accepted as a research assistant in implantology at the School of Dental Medicine in Bern. Since then he has practised in the UK and Switzerland, and gives seminars on a regular basis.
